About RERA
RERA, the Regional Energy Regulators Association, is a leading regulatory organization in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. Founded in 2002, RERA focuses on advancing the harmonization of the SADC energy regulatory environment for the sustainable development of a regional energy market. Initially concentrating on electricity regulation, RERA expanded its mandate to encompass energy regulation in 2019.
The association operates under its own constitution, ensuring clear objectives and operational requirements. RERA's strategic intents include facilitating the development of an efficient, integrated, harmonized, sustainable, and investment-friendly regional energy market. Additionally, RERA aims to enhance the capacity of regulators, promote universal access to clean, reliable, affordable energy services, and proactively influence developments in the energy sector.
Membership to RERA is open to electricity and energy regulatory agencies in the SADC Member States. For the latest news and updates, RERA offers a knowledge center, media gallery, and contact information on their official website
