Resident is a truly independent record shop located in the vibrant North Laine area of Brighton. Opened in 2004 by Derry Watkins and Natasha Youngs, Resident was born out of their shared dream to create the kind of record shop they would love to shop and work in. With a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, Resident is a place where music lovers can come together to discover and enjoy a wide range of music from all eras and genres.

The shop offers an extensive collection of vinyl records, CDs, books, merchandise, and hosts various events both in-store and outstore. They have expanded their team to include over 25+ fellow Residents and doubled the size of their physical shop in 2015. While the stock is predominantly vinyl now, Resident also runs a busy online service, allowing customers worldwide to enjoy their products.
