RE Sporthorses LLC

RE Sporthorses is a Virginia equestrian business led by dressage and event rider Josie Howard. Located in the Shenandoah Valley between Harrisonburg and Staunton, the facility offers boarding, training, and showing in a well-equipped setting. Its 25-stall barn includes a tack room, wash rack, and grooming stalls, while the grounds feature a lighted sand arena, hacking space, and fields for individual or herd turnout.

Josie provides training for horses at different levels and across disciplines, with programs tailored to each horse’s needs. Services include starting horses under saddle, rehabilitation, helping off-track Thoroughbreds transition to new careers, and seasonal tune-ups. Her dressage-based approach develops balance, rhythm, and responsiveness, supporting goals from eventing and dressage to trail riding. She also develops young horses and coaches students of varied experience.

Team RES competes at starter and recognized events and dressage shows. RE Sporthorses also offers horses for sale, including prospects and established horses, and lists offspring from its privately owned Hanoverian stallion, Quill’s Star.
