Restaurator Gerold Benkenstein is a specialist restoration practice in Passau, Germany, focused on conserving and restoring furniture and wooden objects from all periods. The work includes objects with painted, decorated or otherwise finished surfaces, as well as the reconstruction and completion of missing furniture parts and decorative appliqués. Benkenstein also provides advice on buying, preserving and caring for antiques.

Restoration is carried out in a workshop in Passau, while smaller repairs to larger pieces can be completed at the client’s home. To help clients plan with confidence, Benkenstein provides a fixed price wherever possible, based on the agreed restoration plan. Any changes or additional work are discussed and recalculated in advance. An initial consultation is free when it is part of a restoration commission, and home visits are available to prepare a cost-conscious estimate. The client and restorer agree on a schedule together. On request, the restoration process can also be documented in words and photographs, giving clients a record of the work performed.
