RESTORE Battery Recycling

RESTORE is a European research and innovation project focused on making the recycling of end-of-life electric vehicle and domestic lithium-ion batteries more efficient, safe, and sustainable. Coordinated by LEITAT, the initiative brings together 20 partners across seven countries for a 48-month programme funded by the European Union under Grant Agreement 101192272.

The project develops flexible processes to recover battery materials at high purity and return them directly to the battery production chain. Its work spans three connected stages: improving battery sorting and removing non-battery components from electric vehicle packs; optimising pre-processing to separate active and inactive materials; and refining recovered materials to battery-grade standards. RESTORE also explores smart, fast dismantling and automated approaches that could reduce the time and risks associated with manual battery disassembly.

Rather than offering commercial products or services, RESTORE shares research findings, public reports, scientific and other publications, communication materials, and project news. It also provides information about its partners, events, and networking activities, and invites enquiries and collaboration proposals through its contact channels.
