Rethink Plastic is a leading European NGO alliance with a clear vision: a future free from plastic pollution. With thousands of active groups, supporters, and citizens in every EU Member State, we bring together policy and technical expertise from various fields to design and implement policy solutions. As part of the global Break Free From Plastic movement, which consists of 11,000 organizations and supporters worldwide, we demand significant reductions in single-use plastics and long-lasting solutions to the plastic pollution crisis.

Plastic is one of the fastest-growing pollutants globally, and our current design, production, and consumption practices are unsustainable and inefficient. European citizens are increasingly concerned about plastic pollution and look to the European Union for leadership and action. Urgent measures are needed in three key areas: reducing plastic production and consumption, designing safe and sustainable plastic products, and improving plastic waste management.

Our campaign focuses on these areas, addressing issues such as plastic production from fossil fuels, phase-out of single-use plastics, waste management, microplastics, and the need for a global plastics treaty.
