About Women Leaders Network for Development
Réseau Femmes Leaders pour le Développement (RFLD) is a pan-African organization dedicated to protecting and promoting the rights of women, girls, and young people. With a special focus on human rights, democracy, and civic space, RFLD works in francophone sub-Saharan African countries, particularly in West Africa. As part of the CHARM consortium, which includes CIVICUS, Civil Rights Defenders, Defend Defenders, Fojo Media Institute, The Wits Centre for Journalism, and Magamba Network, RFLD collaborates with civil society and media organizations to support human rights defenders, journalists, and marginalized groups.
Through their programs, RFLD strives to confront the shrinking civic space by strengthening civil society and media, creating coalitions, and providing better resources for sustainable development in sub-Saharan Africa. Funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), the consortium aims to protect inclusive democracies and promote national development, emphasizing the critical challenges and emerging opportunities in the region. RFLD's network and programs aim to reach human rights defenders, women, youth, journalists, and vulnerable groups across Central and West Africa
