Rhönobservatorium Uttrichshausen is a private astronomical observatory in Kalbach-Uttrichshausen, on the edge of the Rhön region of Germany. The area is known for its dark skies and was recognized as a star park by the International Dark-Sky Association in 2014. The observatory’s website shares the owner’s interest in astronomy, astrophotography and practical astronomy-related electronics, offering information, guidance and project instructions for enthusiasts.

Visitors can explore a gallery of astronomical photographs, which is updated with new images, as well as sections covering equipment, tips and tricks, and homemade electronics. Topics include geomagnetic-field measurement, including information about using an Arduino-SAM. A notable feature is a magnetogram that is updated every minute, displaying changes in Earth’s geomagnetic field. This information can help readers assess solar activity and the possibility of auroras, including at more southerly latitudes. The site also provides links to a current Northern Hemisphere aurora forecast and further space-weather information from NOAA. Rhönobservatorium presents itself as an independent resource for observing, learning and experimenting.
