Erich Schmidt Verlag GmbH & Co. KG is a distinguished publishing house based in Berlin, specializing in archival research and historical documentation. One of their notable projects is the comprehensive cataloging of the Imperial Supreme Court's records (RHR), which includes previously unexamined judicial files stored in the Vienna House, Court, and State Archives.
This extensive initiative focuses on uncovering approximately one-third of the total 80,000 documents, providing invaluable insights into various aspects of history, including legal, constitutional, social, economic, criminal, military, technological, and craft histories. Their series, Alte Prager Akten, consists of over 5,000 individual records from 1542 to 1766, primarily during the reign of Emperor Rudolf II. The Antiqua series expands this focus to the 17th century with over 16,000 documents.
The publisher's commitment to preserving and enhancing access to these historical records underscores their role as a key resource for researchers and historians alike
