Rhyme N Shine

Rhyme N Shine is an inclusive singing service based in East Sussex, founded by Vanessa, who has a background in musical theatre and experience working with children and young adults with additional needs. The service offers person-centred singing for people with disabilities, adapting sessions to each participant’s communication style, preferences and confidence. Options include individual 1:1 sessions, group singing, workshops and parties, with virtual sessions also developed to support people who are self-isolating or shielding.

Rhyme N Shine welcomes non-speaking participants and people with speech impairments, encouraging everyone to sing in the way that feels most comfortable to them. Sessions focus on musical enjoyment, self-expression, social connection and building confidence, rather than on singing in a particular way. The service also highlights potential physical and mental wellbeing benefits of singing, including breath control, lung function, stress relief and stimulation of communication and attention skills. Rhyme N Shine aims to create an understanding, supportive experience in which each singer can take part and shine.
