About Rhythm of Life Uganda
Rhythm of Life is a non-profit organization in Uganda that aims to improve the health and well-being of HIV-positive sex workers. Established in 2013, their primary focus is running health outreaches in the red light districts of Kampala. Their ultimate goal is to build a permanent health cafe in Kampala, providing these women with a safe and inclusive space for healthcare.
Rhythm of Life also strives to break the cycle of mother-to-daughter prostitution by offering a sponsorship program that supports the education and professional healthcare training of the sex workers' daughters. Through economic empowerment initiatives, their aim is for the women to become self-sufficient and able to support their daughters' schooling independently. The organization also works to provide educational opportunities to daughters of HIV-positive sex workers through their project, "Her Tomorrow," which includes funding for primary, secondary, and higher education.
Rhythm of Life has already made a significant impact, having reached out to over 5,360 sex workers through health outreaches and established partnerships with various schools. Led by a dedicated team, including founder Harriet Kamashanyu Tumusiime, Rhythm of Life is committed to protecting and empowering HIV-positive sex workers, ensuring they have access to essential healthcare and education
