About RichardsonMuseum
Welcome to RichardsonMuseum, located in the beautiful historic town of Cambridge, Maryland. As your port of entry to the region's rich maritime history spanning over 300 years, we invite you to experience the outstanding boatbuilders and their boats that have shaped this area. Founded in memory of Captain James B.
Richardson, a prominent local boatbuilder, our museum is dedicated to preserving his memory and continuing his legacy of traditional wooden boatbuilding. We aim to keep this art alive by offering visitors the opportunity to witness the construction and restoration of wooden vessels at the Ruark Boatworks, where master boatwrights pass on their skills to apprentices and volunteers. While the museum is currently closed, we are excited to announce that a transitional museum display will open to the public in the near future.
