Rick Mercer is a Canadian comedian, television personality, political satirist, author and public speaker from St. John’s, Newfoundland. He is widely known for his work on CBC Television, including Rick Mercer Report, This Hour Has 22 Minutes and Made in Canada.
His television career also includes Talking to Americans, which remains the highest-rated Canadian comedy special, with 2. 7 million viewers. Mercer has received 30 Gemini and Canadian Screen Awards for his television work and was honoured with the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award for lifetime achievement.
He was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2014 and joined the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador in 2023. A sought-after speaker, Mercer offers speaking and hosting services. He is also the author of five books, all of which have been national bestsellers; his books are available through local retailers and Indigo.
