Riders First

Riders First is an Indiana motorcycle safety training program offering courses for new and experienced riders. Its goal is to help participants build practical skills, confidence, and safer riding habits through hands-on instruction, guided practice, and feedback from RiderCoaches. Beginner courses are available for both two-wheel and three-wheel motorcycles. Each includes two days of in-person training, an online eCourse, and a training motorcycle; a permit is not required to begin. Prices for the two-wheel beginner course range from $150 to $299, depending on the class, while three-wheel pricing is shown for the selected session.

For riders with experience, Riders First offers BMV skills-test-only sessions, intermediate and advanced skills courses, and an Adventure Bike RiderCourse focused on off-road riding. Courses are held at locations across Indiana, including Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Bloomington, and Lafayette. Riders can browse course schedules, compare options, review requirements, and get help choosing a class through the website. The program also invites experienced riders to apply to become RiderCoaches and support future motorcyclists.
