RideSMART Florida

RideSMART Florida is a motorcycle safety initiative maintained by the Center for Urban Transportation Research at the University of South Florida. Its mission is to improve motorcyclist safety throughout Florida by providing practical education, training information, safety resources, and crash data for riders, motorists, and communities.

The site promotes the S.M.A.R.T. approach: say no to drinking and riding, make yourself visible, always wear a helmet and protective gear, ride within legal and personal limits, and train regularly. Riders can explore guidance on alcohol and drugs, conspicuity, rider control, heat and hydration, motorcycle maintenance, scooters, and other safety considerations. The initiative also shares information about Florida motorcycle laws, crash trends, risk factors, hospitalizations, county crash facts, and interactive maps.

RideSMART Florida highlights SMART Courses, which help participants practise safe riding techniques in controlled, skill-focused settings. Courses are offered in several Florida locations, with training resources for new and experienced riders and three-wheel motorcyclists. The organization also provides educational materials, publications, event outreach, and information for emergency services and law enforcement.
