About Ride To Work
Ride To Work is a 501 c4 non-profit organization that promotes the use of motorcycles and scooters for transportation. The initiative was born from the “Work to Ride – Ride to Work” marketing materials developed by the Aero Design and Manufacturing Company in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The first Ride to Work Day event took place on July 22, 1992, following the editorial call by motorcycle magazine editor Fred Rau.
Since then, the event has grown into an annual demonstration, initially promoted by motorcycle businesses like Road Rider Magazine, Dunlop Tires, and Aerostich/Riderwearhouse. In 2000, the Ride to Work organization was established to formalize and expand the initiative. The day was moved to the Third Monday In June in 2008 to accommodate riders globally.
The organization is run by volunteers, including Andy Goldfine and Lynn Wisneski, and aims to emphasize the practicality of everyday riding
