Dunedin Riding Academy (DRA) is a riding school based in Brockville, Dunedin, Otago, helping riders from beginner to advanced levels build skills and confidence. Lessons take place on the academy’s carefully selected horses and ponies, with instruction from a fully qualified coach. Riders can choose private or group lessons, with sessions tailored to their experience and learning style.
DRA’s lessons cover more than riding. Participants learn to groom and tack up their horse, understand tack, and care for the animal before and after riding. The academy aims to provide a fun, safe learning environment and welcomes children aged four to sixteen. Its offerings also include horsemanship sessions, children’s holiday camps, hacking, and grazing. Grazing facilities include maintained, equi-fenced paddocks, an arena, and tack space.
Riding lessons last around 45 minutes. Helmets and horse gear are provided; riders should wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes, ideally with a small heel. Prospective riders can contact DRA to arrange a first session.
