About Riigilaevastik
Riigilaevastik is a government-owned maritime organization established on January 1, 2023, aiming to manage and operate a fleet of nearly 300 vessels, including icebreakers, ferries, patrol boats, and hydrographic vessels. The organization is responsible for maintaining navigational aids, conducting icebreaking operations, and providing pilotage services. Recently, Riigilaevastik signed a contract with Baltic Workboats to construct a versatile work vessel powered by 100% biomethane and electricity, enhancing the country's capabilities for buoy work and waterway maintenance.
Additionally, they are acquiring a state-of-the-art hydrogen-powered ferry for the Virtsu-Kuivastu route, promoting energy efficiency and eco-friendly transportation.
