About RioOnWatch.org
RioOnWatch. org is a brand committed to documenting and amplifying the voices of favela communities in Rio de Janeiro. As a program launched by Catalytic Communities (CatComm), a US 501c3 nonprofit organization and Rio de Janeiro-based NGO, RioOnWatch aims to inform municipal decision-making and international development professionals by sharing favela residents' views on public policy.
They also publish columns and opinion pieces written by residents to mainstream favela perspectives, highlight community solutions and green technologies, and popularize urban planning concepts. In addition, RioOnWatch monitors the Olympic legacy and press coverage of favelas, analyzes parallels with informal communities worldwide, and fosters connections and networks of support.
