RISE Community Jiu-Jitsu is a UK Community Interest Company using Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) to support young people’s physical health, mental wellbeing and employability. BJJ is a grappling martial art similar to judo or wrestling, but its cost and reputation for being intimidating can put people off, particularly young people facing disadvantage. RISE works to make training accessible through affordable programmes in welcoming, familiar settings such as youth clubs and community centres, with a particular focus on deprived areas of London and Bristol.

Its offerings include youth, adult and school programmes, as well as employability, corporate and self-defence activities. Programmes are either free or use a pay-it-forward model, helping more people take part. RISE also works with businesses, funding bodies and martial arts gym owners to support social impact initiatives.

Individuals can contribute through the Supporters Club, which offers three membership tiers with benefits including discounted training and coaching, or by making a one-off donation
