Rising Powers

The Rising Powers and Interdependent Futures network is a dynamic research collective focused on understanding the significant global changes driven by emerging economies such as China, India, Brazil, South Africa, and Russia. Recognizing the potential impact of these rising powers on social and economic systems, the network conducts 12 interdisciplinary research projects aimed at exploring their role in the recovery from economic crises and the broader implications for global governance and environmental sustainability.

Funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), these projects combine diverse social science perspectives to examine how rising powers influence other countries, including the UK. The insights gained are intended to inform policymakers, academics, and businesses, enhancing the understanding of current drivers of global transformation. Acknowledging the importance of collaboration, the network engages practitioners to ensure practical relevance and hold workshops to share insights. This collective effort aims to equip stakeholders with informed responses to the pressing challenges faced in today’s interconnected world.
