About RISM
The RISM Digital Center is a pivotal segment of the Répertoire International des Sources Musicales (RISM), an esteemed international organization established in 1952, dedicated to cataloging musical sources globally. This center, inaugurated in 2021, plays a crucial role in advancing a digital infrastructure for musicology, enhancing accessibility to invaluable datasets and resources.
The center develops and maintains open-source tools aimed at the creation, curation, and publication of music source data. It provides essential consulting support for musicology research projects, all while fostering collaborations with various music libraries and research infrastructure networks, including the MEI Community and the NFDI4Culture Consortium.
Additionally, the RISM Digital Center functions as a Swiss working group, actively inventorying music sources across libraries, archives, and private collections in Switzerland. It strives to connect these resources with digitization initiatives and other content-based platforms. Through these efforts, RISM ensures that rich musical heritage remains accessible for researchers and the public alike.
