The Istituto per la storia del Risorgimento italiano is a public legal entity and research institution dedicated to promoting the study of the Risorgimento and the wider nineteenth century, from the age of revolutions to the First World War. Based in Rome at the Vittoriano, it is one of Italy’s national historical institutes and works within the country’s network of historical research organisations.

The Institute supports scholarship and public engagement through its archive, the Museo Centrale del Risorgimento, and the Biblioteca del Risorgimento, which includes digital resources. Researchers can explore archival collections, consult catalogue information and arrange study-room access, subject to availability and regulations. The Institute also publishes books, historical sources, conference proceedings and the Rassegna storica del Risorgimento journal. Its programmes include exhibitions, educational projects, conferences, awards and other events, often developed with territorial committees and partner museums.
