Ritmare

RITMARE is an innovative research initiative funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research, integral to the National Research Program. Coordinated by the National Research Council (CNR), RITMARE focuses on advancing maritime technologies, involving a comprehensive array of projects aimed at enhancing maritime safety, environmental sustainability, and comfort. Key research areas include the development of innovative instrumentation for mobile platforms, as well as new materials, processes, and components tailored for marine applications.

The program also addresses sustainable fishing practices by applying ecosystem-based approaches to the evaluation and use of fishery resources. This encompasses developing sustainable fishing vessels and innovative aquaculture solutions. RITMARE's commitment extends to the coastal zone, studying ecosystem functionality and sediment dynamics.

A significant aspect of the program is the establishment of observational systems that integrate various data collection techniques, enabling improved marine forecasts and monitoring. Through shared infrastructure and technology transfer efforts, RITMARE is dedicated to training and public outreach in marine sciences, fostering a collaborative approach to oceanic research and conservation.
