About River Griese Trout and Salmon Anglers Association
River Griese Trout & Salmon Anglers Association is a local angling club dedicated to fishing and conservation along the River Griese in County Kildare, Ireland. The association maintains approximately 30 miles of river, extending from Colbinstown Bridge through the grounds of historic Kilkea Castle to the River Barrow. The river is small and fast-flowing, supporting wild brown trout and salmon, including trout that can reach around 1½ pounds. The club describes its waters as highly rated for fish numbers, fish quality and water quality.
The association offers seasonal memberships for adults, children and families, with registration available online through Clubforce. Members can access designated fishing beats, some of which are restricted to members, and are encouraged to follow club rules and local fishing guidance. Alongside angling, the club promotes river stewardship through surveys, maintenance and clean-up days addressing litter, fallen trees and overgrown vegetation. It also hosts community events, beginner sessions and family fishing days, and shares catch reports, river updates and photographs.
