River Heads Fishing Club is a community fishing club founded in 2009 by four local anglers. With more than 120 members, it brings together experienced fishers and beginners to share knowledge, enjoy local waterways and build friendships. The club works with the River Heads Progress Association to use River Heads Community Hall and is affiliated with the Queensland Amateur Fishing Clubs Association, connecting members with a wider network of fishing clubs across Queensland.
The club’s main activity is a monthly Fish Meet competition, held from Friday to Sunday on the first full weekend of each month, except January. Members can fish in waters from Woodgate to Tin Can Bay, including around Fraser Island, and earn points towards the annual awards. Fish Meets also include a free sausage sizzle and activities such as knot-tying, cast-net demonstrations and fishing tips. The club hosts social events and welcomes members to committee meetings. Annual, junior and social memberships are available, with membership including QAFCA affiliation. Club merchandise is also available to purchase.
