Rivers of Carbon

Rivers of Carbon (RoC) is an innovative initiative under the Australian River Restoration Centre (ARRC), dedicated to enhancing the health of waterways through collaborative restoration projects. Recognizing the essential relationship between carbon and our environment, RoC engages landholders, Indigenous communities, and scientists to restore rivers across Australia sustainably.

The organization employs a comprehensive 7-step approach that integrates environmental science with local knowledge to achieve long-term ecological and social outcomes. Projects include the rehabilitation of critical waterways such as the Upper Murrumbidgee and various river linkages across regions, demonstrating significant ecological restoration.

Committed to Aboriginal knowledge and the stewardship of natural resources, RoC emphasizes the importance of cultural relationships with water. Through monitoring and evaluation, they ensure effective management and continuous improvement. By fostering community involvement, RoC empowers individuals to actively participate in sustainable practices, ensuring healthier ecosystems for future generations. Join their mission to revitalize Australia’s waterways and support a harmonious relationship between people and nature.
