The Ver Valley Society is a community organisation dedicated to protecting and promoting the River Ver and its valley. It shares information about the river’s history, geology, wildlife and changing conditions, helping people understand the value of this local chalk stream. Its resources cover topics including river flow, rainfall, groundwater, water abstraction, sewage and E. coli monitoring, as well as birds, mammals and other wildlife found in the valley.

The Society offers ways for people of different ages and interests to get involved. Members can join practical riverbank working parties through the VVS Action Group, which meets regularly to improve river habitat, and take part in Riverfly water monitoring and other projects. The organisation also provides walks around the valley, talks with guest speakers, seasonal events, newsletters and activities for young people, including the Chalk Stream Challenge and Trout in the Classroom. Through volunteering, education and community events, the Ver Valley Society encourages people to learn about the river and contribute to its care.
