Lahnfenster Hessen is a unique visitor and water information center located along the Lahn River in Gießen, Germany. Operated by the Upper Fisheries Authority of the Gießen Regional Council, this center is strategically built adjacent to a fish ladder equipped with observation windows. These windows provide an unobstructed view of the fish migration processes within the river, allowing visitors to experience the natural aquatic life in real time.

At the heart of Lahnfenster's mission is the Riverwatcher, a sophisticated device installed at the end of the fishway, which captures vital data regarding fish movement. This information helps researchers and enthusiasts understand the migratory behavior of fish in the Lahn River, making it a valuable resource for ecological studies.

Lahnfenster Hessen offers various services, including detailed reports on fish migration statistics and an interactive platform for users to monitor wildlife activity. This center not only educates visitors about local biodiversity but also promotes conservation efforts throughout the region.
