Riza Animal Sanctuary

Riza Animal Sanctuary is a non-profit refuge for rescued farmed animals in Portugal. Founded in 2019, it provides a peaceful, safe home where animals can recover, roam freely, and receive lifelong care. The sanctuary is home to more than sixty residents, including sheep, goats, pigs, donkeys, chickens, and cows, many of whom were neglected, abandoned, or mistreated.

Riza rescues and rehabilitates animals, providing protection, food, veterinary care, and shelter. Its work is guided by vegan, plant-based values and a belief that every animal’s life matters. Alongside caring for its residents, the sanctuary promotes education and awareness to encourage people to see animals as individuals rather than products.

Powered entirely by volunteers since 2023, Riza welcomes visitors for weekend tours and offers opportunities to volunteer, support events, and contribute through donations. Contributions help fund daily needs and ongoing care. Through community involvement, visits, and shared stories, Riza invites people to support a compassionate sanctuary and its residents
