The Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society (RJOS) is a professional organization dedicated to advancing women in orthopaedics and supporting surgeons throughout every stage of their careers. Founded in 1983 as a support and networking group, RJOS has grown from 42 members to a community of more than 1,500 practicing surgeons, residents, fellows, and medical students, primarily in North America.
RJOS offers educational programs, mentorship, leadership development, career resources, and opportunities to connect with peers. Members can access webinars, a speakers’ bureau, professional development resources, career opportunities, and guidance on topics such as leadership and contract negotiation. The society also provides grants and scholarships for medical students, residents, and practicing surgeons, helping fund research and educational opportunities.
Through its annual meeting, research events, committees, and advocacy, RJOS fosters community and promotes professional growth in orthopaedics. The organization welcomes members, sponsors, and donors who want to support its programs and help strengthen opportunities for the next generation of women orthopaedic surgeons.
