The Royal Literary Fund (RLF) is a UK registered charity, established in 1790, that supports professional writers and promotes the value of writing. Its work helps writers sustain their careers, particularly when financial hardship, illness, disability or other changes in circumstances affect their ability to earn or write. The RLF provides grants ranging from short-term assistance to longer-term financial support, along with advice and paid opportunities through its Fellowship scheme.
RLF Fellows work with more than 100 universities across the UK, helping students strengthen their academic writing through one-to-one support, workshops and educational programmes. The organisation also offers free online writing guides and resources for students, and provides consultancy and school workshops. Through its Writing for Life programme, writers lead community activities focused on self-expression, workplace writing skills and reading groups.
WritersMosaic, an RLF division, is an online magazine and developmental resource focused on writers of the global majority in the UK
