About R. M. Lucas
RM Lucas, Inc. Founded by Robert M. Lucas in 1912, the company originally manufactured asphalt and oil-based paints.
As the roofing industry evolved and asphalt became the primary bitumen used, Lucas cements and coatings gained popularity. In 1954, it became a subsidiary of Union Chemical and Oil Co., a leading manufacturer of roof coatings and waterproofing chemicals. Over the years, Lucas products became widely used in the Chicago market and continued to thrive.
