About RNAcentral
RNAcentral is a leading resource dedicated to non-coding RNA sequences, providing a unified access point to over 25 member databases that encompass a diverse array of organisms and RNA types. Coordinated by the European Bioinformatics Institute and supported by Wellcome, RNAcentral is funded by BBSRC and serves as a free public resource. Users benefit from a range of tools, including integrated text searches, sequence similarity searches, and programmatic data access through a public PostgreSQL database and a genome browser.
RNAcentral meticulously compiles ncRNA sequences, assigning unique identifiers and mapping them to reference genomes from more than 250 species, facilitating ease of navigation and research. The database also enriches its sequences with functional annotations, importing valuable data on modified nucleotides, gene ontology, and miRNA targets. Furthermore, RNAcentral provides secondary structure diagrams for various RNA types, enhancing understanding of their functional significance. The platform continuously evolves, reflecting its commitment to supporting the scientific community with high-quality and comprehensive data on non-coding RNA.
