About Roadguard
Roadguard is a brand that specializes in smart technology for road safety. They are on a mission to eliminate road fatalities caused by worn-out tires and decrease microplastics pollution. Before the pandemic, the EU recorded approximately 22,000 road fatalities annually, with 11% of accidents attributed to faulty or worn-out tires.
This issue not only leads to a staggering human cost but also carries an economic burden of around EUR 22 billion. Additionally, Roadguard recognizes that as much as 28% of microplastics in the ocean comes from tires shedding synthetic rubber as they wear down, leading to pollution and environmental damage. By implementing their innovative technology, Roadguard aims to address these challenges and make our roads safer.
They have partnered with Statens Vegvesen for development and pilot delivery, with plans to have the Roadguard system active on Norwegian roads by the end of 2024.
