Roberts Flight Information Region (Roberts FIR) is a cooperative regional organization serving Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. Established in 1975 through an aeronautical accord, it provides air navigation services for en-route flights across the three countries’ combined upper airspace, covering approximately 777,770 square kilometres. Its stated mission is to support the safety, efficiency, and regularity of air traffic while working toward International Civil Aviation Organization standards and recommended practices.
Roberts FIR’s services include air traffic control, aeronautical information services, search and rescue coordination, and meteorology. It also provides aviation publications and operational information, including AIP publications and amendments, NOTAMs, charts, AIP supplements, and aeronautical information circulars. The organization’s website offers access to FAQs, an e-library, and civil aviation regulations and acts.
To strengthen service delivery, Roberts FIR reports implementing a modern air traffic management system, ADS-B technology, and improved power supply, supported largely by solar energy. The organization shares updates about its activities, projects, partners, and regional aviation services with the flying community, partner institutions, and the general public.
