The Robert Walser-Zentrum is a specialist centre devoted to the life and work of Swiss writer Robert Walser and his companion and literary advocate Carl Seelig. Based in Bern, it preserves, catalogues, researches and shares materials related to Walser and his literary legacy. Its Robert Walser Archive holds manuscripts, biographical documents and scholarly literature, while its research library and online literature database help visitors and researchers locate primary and secondary sources. Collections can be consulted in the centre’s reading room.
The centre also presents changing exhibitions, events, talks and literary programmes, connecting Walser’s writing with contemporary art and culture. Its publications include scholarly editions, studies and books produced with publishing partners, including the Berner Ausgabe, designed for reading and research. Visitors can explore online resources, short films, an audio guide and mapped walking routes inspired by Seelig’s journeys with Walser. The Robert Walser Society supports research and wider appreciation of the author’s work. A newsletter shares updates, literary insights and information about upcoming activities.
