Rock am Bach is a non-profit music festival held in Kirchzarten, near Freiburg, in Germany’s Dreisamtal region. Organized each year during the final week of the summer holidays, it has grown since the early 1990s into a distinctive event featuring rock, indie, pop and electronic music. The festival brings together audiences and performers for three days of live music across two stages; its 2026 programme included 17 bands.
Rock am Bach is organized on a voluntary basis by members of the Autonomes Jugendzentrum Kirchzarten e. V. and a team of volunteer helpers, whose work creates the festival grounds and welcoming atmosphere.
The organization also invites people to join the crew and contribute to the event. Alongside its music programme, it offers practical visitor information, including travel guidance, a site map, ticket prices and answers to frequently asked questions. The festival also provides an awareness team that visitors can approach to report or seek support with violence or discrimination, helping foster a safer environment
