Suomen muinaistaideseura ry (SuMu) on arkeologiasta, muinaisista kulttuureista ja erityisesti esihistoriallisista kalliomaalauksista ja -piirroksista kiinnostuneiden asiantuntijoiden ja harrastajien muodostama rekisteröity yhdistys. Seuran tavoitteena on lisätä muinaistaiteen ja -kulttuurien tuntemusta, kalliomaalaustemme tunnettavuutta ja suojelua, tukea kalliotaiteen monitieteistä tutkimusta ja dokumentointia sekä edistää yhteistyötä maailman ja erityisesti Suomen naapurimaiden kalliotaideyhteisöjen kanssa. Seura järjestää aiheeseen liittyviä seminaareja, näyttelyitä, retkiä, tutkimusmatkoja ja tapahtumia. Seura voi adoptoida ja hoitaa muinaisjäännöskohteita. Seura julkaisee Aurinkopeura-nimistä esihistoriaan ja kalliotaiteeseen keskittyvää julkaisua sekä yhdessä muiden esihistoriaa harrastavien seurojen kanssa Hiisi-lehteä.

Suomen muinaistaideseura ry (SuMu) is a Finnish association bringing together specialists and enthusiasts interested in archaeology, ancient cultures, and especially prehistoric rock paintings and engravings. Its work promotes understanding of ancient art and cultures, raises awareness of Finnish rock art, and supports its protection, documentation, and interdisciplinary study. The association also encourages cooperation with rock-art communities in Finland’s neighbouring countries.
SuMu organises seminars, exhibitions, excursions, research trips, and other events, and may adopt and care for archaeological sites. Its conservation projects include work to address lichen growth on prehistoric paintings, carried out with permission from the Finnish Heritage Agency. The association documents its research and activities and shares information about Finnish rock-art sites and discoveries.
SuMu publishes Aurinkopeura, a publication focused on prehistory and rock art, and collaborates with other prehistory associations on the magazine Hiisi. Members receive two issues of Hiisi each year and can take part in the association’s excursions and seminars at member rates.
