Rock the River is a Winnipeg-based community not-for-profit organization that brings people together through outdoor curling and fundraising. Founded in 2002 as Ironman Outdoor Curling, the event began as a grassroots way for families, athletes, and volunteers to enjoy the sport during Winnipeg winters. It has since grown into the Rock the River Festival, a yearly bonspiel that welcomes curlers of all experience levels and teams of friends, families, and coworkers. No previous curling experience is required.
The festival raises money for the Heart & Stroke Foundation and KidSport Manitoba, combining friendly competition with support for local and community causes. Its activities include the outdoor bonspiel, event information and leaderboards, and opportunities to register, volunteer, donate, or take part in sponsorship. Through its Rock Handle Sponsorship Program, individuals, teams, and businesses can sponsor a curling rock and have a name or custom message engraved on its handle. Rock the River also shares event updates, photos, and information through its website, newsletter, and social media.
