Painswick Rococo Garden is a distinctive historic garden and registered charity in Gloucestershire, offering visitors a place to explore nature, heritage and the Cotswold countryside. Designed in the 1740s as a pleasure garden for the owner of Painswick House and his guests, it is described as the UK’s only complete surviving rococo garden. Its grounds feature seasonal planting, spectacular views and imaginative follies, making them a destination throughout the year, from spring snowdrops to summer greenery.
The garden welcomes families, individual visitors and groups, with trails and outdoor spaces for all ages. Its programme includes art exhibitions, seasonal events, talks, gardening workshops and outdoor performances, including theatre. Visitors can also make use of the café, while the on-site Exedra Nursery specialises in perennials, many grown locally in peat-free compost, and offers gardening advice.
Guests can plan visits around current opening hours and ticket options, or choose an annual season ticket for repeat visits and support for the garden’s ongoing restoration. Dogs on short leads are welcome.
