Rölli-Club Freienbach is a local club dedicated to preserving and sharing the Rölli, a traditional carnival figure and part of Höfe’s cultural heritage. The Freienbach Rölli is described as having roots in the Obermarch region. Historical records document the figure from 1918 to 1975; after disappearing for around two decades, it returned in 1996 with the help of Pfäffikon wood sculptor Markus Kläger. Rölli costumes vary in colour from one region to another, while the characteristic belt of bells is shared by all Röllis.
During the carnival season, the club’s Rölli appears at parades and other community events, where it distributes Anisringli, a traditional anise-flavoured treat made by Wüst Bakery, Patisserie and Confiserie. The club also shares an event calendar, news, and photo galleries, and organises activities such as outings and participation in local markets. Through its appearances and events, Rölli-Club Freienbach helps keep regional carnival customs visible and brings residents together around a distinctive local tradition.
