The Roger Earl Meier Foundation supports people pursuing careers in the electrical outside line trade. Its mission is to strengthen educational training, promote workplace safety, help reduce accidents, and develop a competent, safety-conscious workforce for the industry. The foundation provides financial assistance to eligible students entering the Volta Program and works to secure resources from individuals, corporations, and other foundations. It directs funds toward programs, capital needs, and educational and operational expenses when federal, state, or local funding is insufficient or unavailable, while respecting donor intentions and the foundation’s objectives.
The foundation was established to encourage and assist future generations entering the line trade, honoring Roger Earl Meier’s 32-year career at Clark Public Utilities in Vancouver, Washington. Its primary funding comes from the Roger Earl Meier Shootout, an annual golf tournament launched in 2015 by Roger’s peers. Through scholarships, fundraising, and community support, the organization helps prepare trainees for work installing, maintaining, and repairing the high-power transmission and distribution systems that deliver electricity to customers.
