Join us at Rokua Geopark, Finland's first Global Geopark area, which has been granted UNESCO Global Geopark status. UNESCO only designates locations with a unique geological heritage, promoting sustainable development, research, and cultural heritage continuity in collaboration with local businesses and stakeholders. Rokua Geopark is also an active member of the European and World Geopark networks.

With its theme of the ice age, Rokua Geopark is one of over 160 UNESCO Global Geoparks worldwide, along with Iceland and Norway. The park consists of three landscape areas: Oulujokilaakso, Oulujärvi, and Rokuan harju- and dyynialue. These areas form a unified 1300 km2 vast complex, starting from Muhos, approximately 20 km from Oulu, and extending to Oulujärvi, about 90 km away.

The geological history and legacy of the ice age are visible in the nature of Rokua Geopark, featuring high dunes, deep kettle holes, vast marshlands, beautiful sandy beaches, and forests covered with white lichen.
