Stichting Rollen voor Spieren is a Dutch foundation dedicated to supporting research into Friedreich ataxia, a progressive muscle and neurological condition that affected its founder, Glenn Wijntjens (1981–2023). Founded by Glenn in 2019, the organization grew from his experience taking part in the 2018 IRONMAN Maastricht, where participants raised €79,000 for charitable causes, including research into the disease. With the support of his friends, Glenn continued using sporting challenges to raise awareness and funds.
The foundation remains active in his memory, directing its proceeds to Friedreich Ataxie Nederland, which supports research and projects aimed at improving quality of life for people with the condition and increasing public awareness. Stichting Rollen voor Spieren invites people to take part in fundraising activities, including the Glenn Wijntjens-dag and a children’s sponsor run, and offers ways to donate, including through refundable deposit collections. Its website also features a book about Glenn, T-shirts, event information, registration details and resources about Friedreich ataxia.
