ROMAC

ROMAC (Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children) is a charitable organisation that helps children across Oceania access life-saving surgery when the treatment they need is unavailable in their home countries. For more than 35 years, ROMAC has brought children to specialist medical teams, helping provide the opportunity for healthier futures and restored dignity.

The organisation coordinates each stage of a child’s treatment journey. Its volunteers arrange travel, accommodation, hospital care and local hosting, while ROMAC covers medical, travel, accommodation and living expenses during treatment. It also stays in touch with families as children recover and return home.

ROMAC works with medical professionals, volunteers, donors and Rotary clubs in Australia and New Zealand. People can support its work by referring a child, volunteering, fundraising, donating, leaving a bequest or becoming a club champion. The organisation shares patient stories, news, events, annual reports and newsletters to keep its community informed. ROMAC reports that more than 570 children have been treated, with over 200 volunteers and 1,500 people fundraising annually.
