Ron Rutland 🇿🇦

Ron Rutland is a South African adventurer, expedition planner and speaker whose journeys combine endurance challenges, storytelling and fundraising. A former rugby player and entrepreneur, he discovered adventure later in life and went on to complete three major expeditions. His first was an unsupported solo bicycle journey from Cape Town to London through Africa and Europe: 42,000 kilometres across 75 countries over 27 months, in support of a cause inspired by his friend Lettie.

In 2017, Rutland and Adam Rolston walked and played golf for around 2,000 kilometres across Mongolia, setting a world record for the longest hole ever played and raising funds for projects supported by the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. After a hip replacement, he cycled from London to Tokyo with James Owens, covering 20,093 kilometres through 27 countries to deliver the Rugby World Cup match whistle and raise more than €130,000 for ChildFund Pass It Back.
