The All-Russian Program "Trees - Monuments of Living Nature" is dedicated to conserving and honoring unique old-growth trees that hold cultural, historical, and natural significance in Russia. Established in 2010 through initiatives by the Federation Council and supported by the Federal Forestry Agency, the program aims to identify and preserve these significant trees, which often witness pivotal historical events and embody the essence of the Russian landscape.

Participants, including both organizations and individuals, can nominate trees for recognition as natural monuments, provided they are aged and linked to notable histories or legends. A dedicated certification committee, comprising leading forest experts and botanists, reviews applications to grant the status of a natural heritage monument. Through its work, the program has also created a National Registry of Old-Growth Trees and published a commemorative photo album showcasing Russia's extraordinary trees.
