Rosemark History Book

Historic Archives of Rosemark & Environs, Inc. preserves the history of communities in northeast Shelby County and south central Tipton County, Tennessee. Its central publication, An Illustrated History of the People and Towns of Northeast Shelby County and South Central Tipton County, explores Salem, Portersville, Idaville, Kerrville, Armourtown, Bethel, Tipton, Mudville, Macedonia, Gratitude, Barretville, and Rosemark.

Drawing on articles, interviews, maps, photographs, diaries, and letters, the book documents the people and places that shaped the region, including its farms, churches, schools, towns, and cemeteries. Its stories cover settlement, transportation and railroad development, agriculture, education, religion, military service, economic hardship, medical care, and everyday life. The organization also offers related map and cemetery CDs, with books and CDs available through listed local sellers or by mail order.

Event information, photographs, a book excerpt, and contact details are provided through its website. Together, these publications and resources help readers explore local and family history while preserving memories of communities whose schools and some towns have disappeared, even as their churches, cemeteries, and farmland remain
