RossendaleCFR

Rossendale Community First Responders is a volunteer-led emergency response organisation supporting the North West Ambulance Service across the Rossendale Valley. Its trained Community First Responders provide a local response to medical emergencies, offering early lifesaving care while ambulance services are on their way. The team also welcomes new volunteers and provides guidance on becoming a responder.

Alongside emergency response, the organisation delivers free Basic Life Support training for community groups, schools, event organisers and members of the public. Sessions include practical CPR and defibrillator skills, helping participants feel more confident in an emergency. Its Heart to Heart support service is available to people affected by cardiac arrest, including survivors and those involved in providing CPR.

Rossendale First Responders works closely with its sister initiative, Community Defibrillators for Rossendale, to expand access to public-access defibrillators. The network includes more than 100 devices across the valley, which are regularly checked and maintained.
